Purpose of the LECTURER – TRAVEL AND TOURISM Job
The responsibility of a lecturer is to facilitate student learning through interactive classroom instruction that encourages student engagement and enhances the student learning experience. Lecturers are required to promote student success by implementing initiatives that increase student retention and graduation rates.
As a subject matter expert, a lecturer is required to remain abreast of developments in their subject area and to ensure the quality of the subject content delivery, assessment, and relevance of the learning material in order to achieve the learning outcomes.
Duties and Accountability
Using a hybrid facilitation method (online and in-class presentations) to present content.
Using the learner management system to grade assessments and provide feedback in-class and online.
Using current trends in teaching and learning strategies at Berea College of Technology to support student learning.
Developing and implementing intervention programs to assist students who are at risk.
Professional development requires attendance at faculty meetings and lecture development seminars.
Participate in campus-wide events.
Utilize technology effectively in the classroom.

Minimum Requirements:
A minimum of one to two years of exposure in the higher education sector; a three-year bachelor’s degree or B Tech in travel and tourism from an accredited institution; and at least two years of teaching experience.
